This summer marks 30 years of Rabbi and Rivkie Block being shluchim, emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Plano, Texas. Under their leadership for the past three decades, Chabad of Plano has grown from a staff of two to a staff of close to twenty, meeting the ever changing, ever growing needs of a vibrant community. During these past thirty years, it has outgrown its original location of a converted garage, to it's current home, the beautiful Lang Chabad Center.
Rabbi Block’s commitment to his shlichus is seen by the countless hours he devotes daily to teaching Torah, mentoring and caring for the community. The many people who study with him on a weekly basis can attest to his scholarship and genuineness. Rivkie leads the Gan Gani Preschool, the Plano Mikvah and teaches women as well. Her personal touch has enlivened every event at Chabad.
According to the Blocks, however, their greatest accomplishment is their eight children and 12 grandchildren including four married children who live in the area and are leading Chabad centers of their own.
