Honorees

Rabbi Block is a part of Leo, Hyram and Meyer Rovinsky’s earliest memories. Every Friday, for the duration of the time they spent in the NICU of The Medical Center of Plano, the Rabbi would visit with the babies, hold them and sing to them and help them welcome in the Shabbat. Now thriving, healthy and bright 8 year-olds, Chabad continues to be a large part of their lives by attending both Gan Izzy Winter and Summer camps for the past 4 years. We are grateful for their ongoing support and pleased to honor them to represent the thousands of children who have attended Camp Gan Israel at Chabad of Plano.

Faina and Oren Zebaida have deep roots with Chabad that go back to their college years. From the Brit Mila of their twin boys to their Bar Mitzvahs just a few months ago, the Zebaida family has made Chabad their spiritual home. The Chabad of Plano Hebrew School has educated their three sons from kindergarten and onward. Judging from their recent Bar Mitzvah celebration, these boys are superb examples of the high quality, supplementary Jewish education that we have to offer our community. We are grateful for their ongoing support and pleased to honor them to represent all the children who have been educated at the Chabad of Plano Hebrew School.

Most Fridays you will find Shiri in the kitchen at Chabad of Plano, preparing the delicious Shabbat Kiddush luncheon for all to enjoy after services. On Shabbat, Robi and Shiri Gurfinkel’s warm and engaging personalities bring another dimension to Chabad. Recently, in memory of Shiri’s father, the family generously sponsored the Yehudah Kaplan KidShul. This new initiative has added so much energy to our Shul and has doubled the number of children attending in a short span of time.  We are grateful for their ongoing support and pleased to honor them to represent the growing Shul of Chabad of Plano.

For close to 10 years, Dr Scott Katz, a well regarded and beloved pediatrician in the Plano area, has shown his commitment to Torah study through attending classes at Chabad of Plano. The JLI courses, Tefillin Club and Torah and Brews have provided Scott with more than just hundreds of hours of Torah learning; they have given him the opportunity to more deeply appreciate his heritage and the unique mission he has in this world. We are grateful for his ongoing support and are pleased to honor him to represent the thousands of students that study Torah at the Jewish Learning Institute adult education of Chabad of Plano.

Enrolling their 3 year-old daughter in the Gan Gani Preschool was one of the first things the Ohayons did when they arrived in Plano. In the ensuing 2 years they have seen Mikayla graduate and their younger daughter Olivia begin her early childhood education in the preschool of Chabad of Plano. The Ohayons have shown dedication, enthusiasm and appreciation for quality Jewish early childhood education. We are grateful for their ongoing support and are pleased to honor them to represent all the children at the Gan Gani Preschool at Chabad of Plano.
