Stories of the Righteous Tzaddikim
There’s an old Chasidic saying – the rest of the world tells children stories in order to put them to sleep … but we Jews tell children stories in order to keep them awake. Our children and grandchildren really need to hear us get excited in a positive way about the real heroes and real role models – the righteous men and women of our people from throughout the generations. Buy a story book or download some stories and read to or listen with your children and/or grandchildren (stories have the power to awaken within them a passion and drive to be proud and strong Jews)!
SAY YOUR DAILY CHITAS
What is Chitas?
The word ‘Chitas’ – spelled ches, taf, taf – is also an acronym for Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya.
The Previous Rebbe urged that every day of the week, every Jew should study the daily lessons of Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya. The Chumash lesson is from that week’s Torah reading with the seven Aliyas corresponding to the seven days of the week. The daily Tehillim is based on dividing the Tehillim so that one finishes all 150 psalms each month. And the daily Tanya was divided by the Previous Rebbe himself into daily study portions.
