About Mark Halawa:
Mark Halawa was born and raised in Kuwait to an Arab-Muslim family of Palestinian background.
All along, Mark knew his maternal grandmother was Jewish, but never thought this would make him a Jew.
In 2003, while a university student in London, Ontario Canada, Mark came across DrYitzchok Block, a retired Harvard-educated, professor of philosophy, who informed him that by Jewish law he is actually Jewish, effectively making Mark the very enemy he grew up learning to hate.
Mark’s curiosity grew, and an impactful trip to Poland and Israel in 2009 made him fall in love with Israel and the Jewish people.
In 2010, Mark started full-time studies at Yeshiva in Jerusalem, then made Israel his home.
Today, Mark and his wife live in Jerusalem with their two daughters.
